On Friday August 11th, 2006 through the generous donations of the members and supporters of the AMTA a bronze bust of Charles E. Taylor was donated to the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar - Hazy Center. This event has enabled the AMTA to bring further awareness of the contributions to aviation that "Charlie" made. It also provides further education to the public about the many men and women that have followed the footsteps Charles E. Taylor took. Through this event the AMTA, with the generous financial donations made by AMTA Members and supporters, the AMT craft & profession has taken a further step in being recognized by the public. This event was highlighted by our Guest Speakers The Honorable John Goglia, Giacinta Bradley Koontz, aviation historian and author, and Mr. Richard Dilbeck who was the person responsible for having the FIRST AMT Day Resolution to be passed in California. The following pictures were taken the night of this special.
The AMTA wishes to thank Dr. Tom Crouch, Linda Hicks and Kate Gemmell for their patience and support in helping the AMTA put together a memorable event.
