Faces Behind Safety Commander Aero

AMT Jason Griggs, of Commander Aero in Dayton Ohio, is performing an IFR certification on a Bonanza.

Commander Aero Inc (CAI) was established in 1981 as a full service FBO at Greene County Airport. John Bosch became a partner in the business in 1985 and sole owner in 1995. The business was founded by Dick Wartinger after he acquired the assets of Southern Ohio Aviation. In 1997 CAI moved its operations to Dayton - Wright Brothers Airport. Prior to moving to Dayton - Wright Brothers Airport CAI completely renovated the facilities. The 25,000 sq. ft. hangar is in better shape now than at any time in its past.

In 1987 a plan was prepared to develop airplane modifications that would have the promise of high margins. This was successfully accomplished with the introduction of AeroDyne winglets in 1988. This strategic action greatly enhanced the financial fortunes of the company, CAI has continued to invest in new product developments and today it boasts a 35 page catalog of products and services that leverages the basic business of aircraft maintenance and fuel sales.
